Carter figuring out there are no females of the alien species, had me in stitches It was the humor, because Carter is hilarious when he talks to himself. It was the anticipation of how the MCs were going to get out of the latest wrinkle. It wasn't the smut, there is very little in the first book and the sort of smut that was in the later books is not my usual fare, as I mentioned at the top, it was the story. I got eye strain, I don't remember the last time I got eye strain from reading and I read A LOT. I did math in my head to figure out if I could function on 5 hours of sleep instead of 5 1/2 because I wanted that one more chapter, and the one after it. With communication between the two groups all but impossible Carter must find a way to survive in this new alien environment and get free of his captors. He is stuffed into a cage with two 'local' aliens who think he is an omega of their species. Carter, a bad-ass space marine, or so he says, is captured and enslaved by an alien species. I don't know why I picked this up, but I am certainly glad I did! So if you are like me, and alien/AOB/mpreg is not your usual sub-genre preference, it is worth giving this series a chance. Normally I read historical romances, with lords, ladies, and a lot of stuffy conversations. I would like to start by saying this is not my preferred sub-genre.
